Louisiana Tech Helps Keep Smith-Wills Stadium in Business

The Ruston (LA)-based Louisiana Teach University Bulldogs baseball team is scheduled to play in nine conference games at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson (MS) in 2020.  The team was forced to move out of their home ballpark because of an  April 2019 tornado.  Smith-Wills has narrowly avoided demolition and was leased to a new sports management group last year.  Read more and view photo here.

Smith-Wills Stadium Getting New Operator?

The co-owner of a Biloxi baseball team could soon be manager of Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson (MS).  Only one firm submitted a proposal to manage the stadium — Kusche Sports Group.  Read more here.

The Future of Jackson’s Smith-Wills Stadium

The future of Smith-Wills Stadium is still up in the air, with Jackson (MS) city officials still undecided how to move forward with the property.  Last year, the city brought on Tim Bennett, owner of the Biloxi Shuckers (Double-A, Southern League), to do an assessment of stadium and help determine its viability for tournaments and events.  Opening in 1975, a number of affiliated and independent clubs played at the ballpark over the years.  Read more here.
