Grand Opening Saturday for Skylands Stadium Sports Academy

Champions Way Sports Academy, a 17,000-square-foot training facility operating in coordination with the Sussex County Miners (Independent Professional, Can-Am League), will hold its grand opening from 12:30-4 p.m. Saturday at the Skylands Stadium Event Center.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the heads up.

Skylands Ice Sculpture Extravaganza a Success

Pro Ball Returns to Sussex Stadium

Sussex County MinersThe Sussex County Miners (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) opened their inaugural home stand on Monday night in front of a crowd of 3,819 at Skylands Stadium.  This is the first time the ballpark has hosted professional baseball since the Sussex Skyhawks (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) folded in 2011.  Read more here.  View photo here.

Miners Hold Exhibition Game Before Inaugural Home Opener on Memorial Day

Sussex County MinersSaturday’s game between the Sussex County Miners and the New Jersey Jackals (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) was just an exhibition, but it was the first time since the Sussex Skyhawks (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) closed up shop in 2011 that professional baseball players took the field at Skylands Stadium.  The team’s first home game will be on Memorial Day, May 25, at 7:05 p.m.  Read more here.

Semi-Pro Football Returns to Resuscitated Skylands Park/Stadium

Sussex StagsSussex County MinersThe Sussex County Miners (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) won’t be the only team taking up residence at Skylands Stadium this season.  A football team called the Sussex Stags (Semi-Pro, Empire Football League), Formerly the New Jersey Stags when they played at then-Skylands Park from 2010-11, will be back playing this summer after a four-year hiatus.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the heads up.
