It’s Been 25 Years Since Construction Began on Sioux City Ballpark

It’s hard to believe it has been 25 years since construction began on a new $3.5 million baseball stadium on the south edge of Sioux City (IA) to house the Sioux City Explorers (Independent Professional, American Association) of the start-up Northern League.  Read more here.

Explorers Unveil 25th Anniversary Logo

PRESS RELEASE – – In honor of the Explorers’ upcoming 25th season in Siouxland, the team officially unveiled a new commemorative logo, which will be featured on the right sleeve of a special 25th Anniversary season game jersey that will be worn by the X’s during the 2017 season, which begins on May 18th at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

Big Changes at Lewis & Clark Park

Fans of the Sioux City Explorers (Independent Professional, American Association) will see some big changes at Lewis and Clark Park when the X’s open their season Thursday against the Sioux Falls Canaries. Improvements include a 19.6-by-36.4-foot, $400,000 video board.  Read more here.

Explorers GM Named American Association’s Executive of the Year

PRESS RELEASE – Sioux City Explorers General Manager, Shane Tritz, has been named the 2013 American Association Executive of the Year, the league office announced today.  The award was decided by a vote of all thirteen teams’ field managers and media representatives and this is the first time in team history that a member of the Sioux City Explorers organization has received the award.

Sioux City Explorers Continue to Operate in the Red

Information received by the Sioux City Journal shows that the American Association’s Sioux City Explorers lost $413,731 in 2005 and $550,575 in 2006. Explorers to Remain at Lewis and Clark Park – UPDATE

The Sioux City (IA) City Council is expected to approve on Monday a five year extension of the lease with the American Association’s Sioux City Explorers for the use of Lewis and Clark Park.  The deal also includes a food service contract with Distinctive Gourmet.
