The University of Florida broke ground on a new, state-of-the-art baseball stadium on Feb. 8, and on Thursday the program released a virtual fly-through of the new digs on Twitter. Read more here.

On Tuesday, the University of Kentucky Wildcats baseball team opened their new stadiuim, Kentuckey Proud Park, in front of a crowd of 4,047 fans. Read more here and here.

The University of Arkansas board of trustees will vote this week on whether to modify the name of the Razorbacks’ baseball stadium from Baum Stadium to Baum-Walker Stadium. The request comes after the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation pledged a $5 million lead gift toward the construction of a $25-million, 40,000-square-foot operations center on the stadium grounds. The University of Florida Athletic Department has announced an updated timeline and budget for the Gators’ new ballpark, in addition to detailing Phase III of the planned facilities upgrades. Initially estimated to cost $50 million, the project will have a $65 million budget and a groundbreaking in February. Read more here.

PRESS RELEASE – The new home of Kentucky baseball has been officially named Kentucky Proud Park after approval by the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees on Friday. The name is a tribute to farmers and businesses of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the Big Blue Nation.

Former Kentucky baseball coach Keith Madison once had a dream about a day like Saturday. A day when the Wildcat baseball team would move into a new home. The construction process is still ongoing on the $49 million stadium, but head coachNick Mingione was able to take his team into the team areas of the stadium for the first time on Saturday. University of Tennessee Athletic Director Phillip Fulmer suggested on the Big Orange Caravan tour last week that he plans for the 26-year-old Lindsey Nelson Stadium, home of the Volunteers baseball team, to receive a significant upgrade during his time as athletic director. Read more here.

The LSU Board of Supervisors on Friday approved the expansion of the baseball hitting facility at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. The project will add 4,300 square feet of space to the facility, including a 3,500 square-foot weight room. Read more and view rendering gallery here.

On Thursday, the Kentucky Baseball program held a “topping-out” ceremony to celebrate a milestone moment in the construction of the new stadium, which is on schedule to be completed in late Summer/early fall of 2018. Read more and watch news report here.

The Mississippi State baseball team began fall practice this week, and the Bulldogs have begun using the under-construction, new Dudy Noble Field on a limited basis. The team will play through the construction in 2018 as the lower level of the stadium, as well as outfield seating, is expected to be ready. Read more and view construction photo here.

The University of Florida’s athletic association has posted an ad for an architect and design team for a new 5,500-seat baseball stadium for the Gators that would be scheduled to be ready for the 2020 season at a cost of $45,878,800. Read more here. View project plan here.

As previously reported, Mississippi State’s Dudy Noble Field-Pole-Dement Stadium, which has hosted four SEC tournaments, a number of NCAA Regionals and two Super Regionals, is being renovated this offseason. As shown in a recent video posted, demolition has already begun. Watch video here.

The University of Kentucky Athletics Department officially broke ground on the construction of a new baseball stadium on Thursday. Construction is expected to take 18-20 months, meaning the stadium will open in late fall 2018 in time for the 2019 UK baseball season. Read more and view aerial rendering here.

At the press conference Tuesday to introduce new head baseball coach Nick Mingione, University of Kentucky athletic director Mitch Barnhart announced that UK Baseball will likely be getting something else new as well – a new baseball facility. Read more here. Watch press conference here.

The SEC Baseball Tournament is staying in Hoover (AL). The SEC’s athletic directors authorized commissioner Greg Sankey to negotiate with Hoover for the 2017 tournament and moving forward “for a time to be determined” on Friday. Read more here. Thanks to Joe DeLeonard for the link.

The five-year contract between the city of Hoover (AL) and the SEC for hosting the SEC baseball tournament at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium ends after this year’s tournament. With past success, recent facility upgrades, and a new $70-million events center going in next door, Hoover hopes to knock out competing bidders New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville and Jacksonville. The University of Arkansas’ Baum Stadium celebrated its 20th anniversary last month, a milestone that surprised many around the game. Baum still feels to new to be 20 years old, and even after two decades it remains one of the crown jewels of college baseball. Read more and view photos here.

The Southeastern conference (SEC) reportedly has sent bid information to 12 different southern cities, while claiming Hoover (AL) — a suburb of Birmingham — will still be a potential host of its league baseball tournament after its contract runs out this year. Mississippi State University has announced plans for a new $40 million baseball stadium for the Bulldogs. The ballpark will be a completely new facility on the site of the current Dudy Noble Field/Polk-Dement Stadium, rather than a renovation of the existing structure. Read more and view renderings here. Miami (FL) Mayor Tomás Regalado will be the latest public official to be interviewed by the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission regulators, who are investigating the public bond sales that financed the Miami Marlins’ $634 million ballpark in Little Havana. Regalado has blocked out six hours of his schedule today to meet with the SEC. Read more here.

The University of Georgia Athletic Association’s board of directors have appropriated $1.35 million to begin the first stage of renovations to Foley Field, home of the Georgia Bulldogs baseball team.
