Giant Baseball to be Centerpiece of Downtown Montgomery Turn About

Crosswalks and pedestrian areas are being expanded around Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Montgomery Biscuits (Double-A, Southern League).  Plans call for construction of a giant baseball, 25 feet in diameter, at the center of a turn about near the ballpark.  Read more and view photos here.

Sculpture of Willie Mays to be Unveiled

PRESS RELEASE – The Alabama-Mississippi Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society is dedicating a sculpture created by local artists Caleb O’ Connor and Craig Wedderspoon as a lasting tribute to former Time Inc. CEO and current Birmingham Barons owner, Don Logan, the Society’s 2015 Legacy of Leadership honoree.

Artist Stitches Ballpark, City Together

Inspired by the stiches on a baseball, artist Derek Parker from North Adams (MA) is installing a new sculpture at Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the indy pro Lancaster Barnstormers (Atlantic League).  The red-painted metal plates arranged along the walkway in front of the stadium metaphorically stitch together the team’s home and the city around it.  Read more and view photo here.
