San Jose Giants and Excite Credit Union Announce Excite Ballpark

PRESS RELEASE – The San Jose Giants announced today a three-year naming rights agreement with newly re-branded Excite Credit Union. As of today, fans will be walk through the front gates of Excite Ballpark, Home of the San Jose Giants. The naming rights deal highlights an expanded partnership between the two organizations and ushers in an exciting new era of baseball in San Jose.

Supreme Court Offers No Help to San Jose Baseball Dreams

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear San Jose’s last-ditch appeal of its antitrust claims against Major League Baseball for stalling a plan to move the A’s to Silicon Valley.  The high court was considered the city’s last hope to force the league to let the A’s build a ballpark near its downtown.  Read more here.

San Jose to Appeal Decision on Land Purchase

A Santa Clara County judge recently handed the city a setback, ruling last month that San Jose city officials violated local laws by entering into a land-purchase agreement with the team for a ballpark site without first putting the issue to the voters.  The City Council on Tuesday voted to appeal Huber’s decision.  Read more here.

San Jose Giants Explore Building New Ballpark

The Single-A San Jose Giants (California League) are exploring the idea of building a new stadium on the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.  The stadium would replace San Jose Municipal Stadium as the Giants’ home and could be the centerpiece of a youth sports complex.  Read more here.

A’s, San Jose Extend Negotiations

The Oakland A’s and San Jose are still holding out hope of moving the team to a new ballpark in Silicon Valley.  The baseball club and its longtime South Bay suitor have agreed on a deal that will extend negotiations for up to another seven years, as the city tries to win approval from the courts or the MLB for the A’s move south.  Read more here.

San Jose Appeals Antitrust Case Against MLB

San Jose city officials last week officially shifted their antitrust case against Major League Baseball to a federal appeals court, taking the first step in trying to overturn a federal judge’s decision last year tossing out key legal arguments in the fight over the long-stalled plan to move the Oakland A’s to the South Bay.  Read more here.
