City Gets Bump From Rawhide Revenues, Facility Upgrades on Radar

The City of Visalia (CA) received $90,658 from the Single-A Visalia Rawhide (California League) for the use of Recreation Park in 2011.  This was an 11-percent increase over the previous season, which was made possible by a 10-percent boost in Rawhide attendance. Continue reading

Phase I Complete for Healdsburg (CA) Ballpark Improvements

More Ballpark Improvements on Deck in Visalia?

A Visalia (CA) City Council subcommittee has recommended to the full council a plan where Top of the Third, Inc., the organization that owns the Single-A Visalia Rawhide, would “front” $125,o00 for a new 150-seat shaded deck in right field at Recreation Park, while the city would spend $25,ooo for new batting cages.  Not everyone on the council is happy about the idea, as the city spent a hefty $11 million just two years Continue reading

Renovations Pay Off for Rawhide, Visalia

Healdsburg Locals Looking to Refurbish Recreation Park

Clarence Ruonavaara and a group of concerned local citizens are working to raise $400,000 to renovate Recreation Park, an old baseball stadium located in Healdsburg, CA that was built in 1923.  The 90-year-old Ruonavaara played semi pro baseball at the historic ballpark as a player for the Healdsburg Odd Fellows and Prune Pickers from 1937 to 1952.  Healdsburg is a small northern California community of about 11,000 people.  Read more here.
