Nebraska Tax Commissioner Throws Wrench into Publicly-Financed Projects

According to a recent advisory by the Nebraska state tax commissioner, any property not actually owned by a government entity is subject to property taxes.  This presents a serious problem for communities that use nonprofit leasing corporations to issue tax-free bonds to fund capital projects like Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Park and Sarpy County’s Werner Park. All Pro Freight Stadium Gets Tax Relief

Ohio Governor John Kasich has signed into law legislation that extends the property tax exemption for affiliated, municipally-owned stadiums to non-affiliated ballparks.  This new benefit will apply to All Pro Freight Stadium, home of the indy pro Frontier League’s Lake Erie Crushers.  Read more here.
