GreenJackets’ New Stadium Sales Numbers Blowing Past Those for Lake Olmstead Stadium

North Augusta, GreenJackets Break Ground on New Ballpark (Already Under Construction)

The City of North Augusta (SC) and the Augusta GreenJackets (Single-A, South Atlantic League) officially broke ground yesterday on the baseball stadium at Riverside Village at Hammond’s Ferry, the official name for the site formerly known as Project Jackson.  Read more and watch video here.

North Augusta Ballpark Groundbreaking Today

Preliminary Work Begins on Project Jackson

Augusta Green Jackets LogoPreliminary site and surveying work has begun on Project Jackson, a mixed-use development situated on 30 acres near the North Augusta (SC) waterfront.  City Council members voted 6-0 at a special council meeting Monday night on final reading of an ordinance authorizing the City to enter into an installment purchase agreement of up to $16 million to complete preliminary infrastructure work.  Read more here.

Council Renews Project Jackson Funding Mechanism

Augusta Green Jackets LogoThe North Augusta (SC) City Council took action Monday to renew the Municipal Improve­ment District for Project Jackson — a $183 million planned development beside the Ham­mond’s Ferry neighborhood with a baseball park overlooking the Savannah River; a hotel; a conference center; and retail, living and office space.  Read more here.

A 2017 July Fourth Ballpark Opening Still Possible for GreenJackets

Augusta Green Jackets LogoNorth Augusta (SC) is close to finalizing a master development agreement for Project Jackson.  Once construction starts, it will take 14 months to complete the project, so the Augusta GreenJackets (Single-A, South Atlantic League) won’t be opening the start of the 2017 baseball season in a new ballpark.  Read more here.

Agon Sports Has a Proven Plan for New Boise Ballpark

Boise Hawks LogoThe Boise Hawks’ (Single-A, Northwest League) new ownership group, Agon Sports and Entertainment, came into Boise last fall well aware of the club’s need for a new ballpark.  The group wants to mirror what it has done in Fort Wayne (IN), and what it’s about to do in North Augusta (SC), to get it done in Idaho’s capital city.  Read more here.

North Augusta Chooses General Contractor for Project Jackson

North Augusta Authorizes Legal Action to Fight Lawsuit Against Project Jackson

Project Jackson Passes First Test with North Augusta Council

Augusta Green Jackets LogoThe North Augusta (SC) City Council gave Pro­ject Jackson first-reading approval by a 6-1 vote Monday night. The $144 million riverfront development would include a new stadium for the Single-A Augusta GreenJackets (South Atlantic League).  Two more readings of the ordinance amending an existing Tax Increment Financing district are scheduled for Nov. 4 and Nov. 18.  Read more here.
