Last K-Tribe Game Ever Tonight in Kinston

The Single-A Kinston Indians (Carolina League) will play their last home game tonight at Grainger Stadium. The team is relocating to Zebulon (NC) to replace the Double-A Carolina Mudcats (Southern League), which are moving to Pensacola (FL).  Focus in town now turns to a replacement franchise.  Read more here.

MiLB Signs Off on Pensacola Ballpark Design

MiLB Chief Gives False Hope to Kinston?

New Pensacola Ballpark Taking Shape

The new Maritime Park in Pensacola (FL) is rising from its downtown construction location, as Channel 3 reporter Jim Carmack  is given a sneak peek tour.  The new stadium will be the home for a relocated and renamed Double-A Southern League team beginning in 2012.  Read more and watch news clip here.

Next Monday is Last Opening Day for Double-A Mudcats

Next monday will be the last opening day in Zebulon (NC) and Five County Stadium for the Double-A Carolina Mudcats.  The Southern League team will be relocating to Pensacola (FL) after the 2011 season.  No need to fret though, as the Single-A Kinston (NC) Indians from the Carolina League will be heading to Zebulon to replace them.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

Name the Team Contest Begins for New AA Pensacola Team

Shuffle In Pensacola, Shuffle Out Kinston

Paper Endorses New Pensacola Ballpark

The Pensacola (FL) News Journal has endorsed a plan to build Community Maritime Park and bring Double-A Southern League baseball to Pensacola.  The Huntsville (AL) Stars would appear to be the most likely target for franchise relocation.  Pensacola is currently the home of the American Association’s Pensacola Pelicans.  Read more here and here.
