The Single-A Kinston Indians (Carolina League) will play their last home game tonight at Grainger Stadium. The team is relocating to Zebulon (NC) to replace the Double-A Carolina Mudcats (Southern League), which are moving to Pensacola (FL). Focus in town now turns to a replacement franchise. The Pensacola (FL) News Journal has endorsed a plan to build Community Maritime Park and bring Double-A Southern League baseball to Pensacola. The Huntsville (AL) Stars would appear to be the most likely target for franchise relocation. Pensacola is currently the home of the American Association’s Pensacola Pelicans. Read more here and here.
