PawSox Attendance Drops

Attendance at Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, International League) games has dropped as the team prepares to depart Rhode Island for Massachusetts.  The PawSox are averaging just 5,254 fans a game (as of Sept. 3), which is a drop from 5,982 in 2018.  It’s the third-lowest attendance in the International League.  Read more here.  The team was at 6,406 in 2017.  Doing business as the Fightin’ Quahogs last Friday probably didn’t hurt.

Tamburro Named MiLB’s King of Baseball

WooSox? PawSox Tour Possible Ballpark Site in Worcester

PawSox to Become ‘Hot Wieners’

PRESS RELEASE – The Pawtucket Red Sox are changing their name…for one night anyway. The PawSox announced last night following their game at McCoy Stadium that they will take the field as the Pawtucket Hot Wieners on Thursday, August 16 when they host the Durham Bulls at 7:05 pm at McCoy Stadium. The name change pays homage to one of Rhode Island’s most famous cuisines – the hot wiener!

A New Financing Plan for New PawSox Ballpark

A new Pawtucket Red Sox  (Triple-A, International League) dsstadium financing plan unveiled by House leadership late Wednesday would use future tax revenue in a large area of the city’s core to pay for a new ballpark and surrounding infrastructure. PawSox Ballpark Deal Truly Dead?

New PawSox Ballpark Cost Could Rise to $97 Million?

Revised stadium-financing legislation introduced in the Senate Finance Committee on Thursday indicates the initial cost to build a new Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, International League) stadium could be as high as $97 million, which is 17 percent higher than the earlier projection of $83 million.  Read more here.

Pawtucket Ballpark Study Yields Better-Than-Expected Results

City, PawSox Await Results of Ballpark Study

The city of Pawtucket (RI) and the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, International League) are currently looking at two potential sites for a new ballpark – a wooded area on Taft Street known as the “Tidewater site” and the location where the iconic Apex building now stands in the shadow of I-95.  The city has commissioned an economic impact study of the two locations, which should be released in the coming weeks.  Read more here.
