New PawSox Ballpark Cost Could Rise to $97 Million?

Revised stadium-financing legislation introduced in the Senate Finance Committee on Thursday indicates the initial cost to build a new Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, International League) stadium could be as high as $97 million, which is 17 percent higher than the earlier projection of $83 million.  Read more here.

Finance Committee to Report Thursday on Proposed PawSox Ballpark, Governor Backs Worcester

The Rhode Island Senate Finance Committee will convene this Thursday, Dec. 7, to issue its final report and bring forward revised legislation on a proposed new baseball stadium in downtown Pawtucket.  Read more here.  Meanwhile, Massachusetts Gov. Yale Architecture Students Present PawSox Ballpark Designs

Yale University students who are in their third year studying for master’s degrees in architecture presented conceptual ideas of how a new stadium for the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, International League) might fit in the city at the Apex department store site.  Read more view designs here.

Governor Stands by Current PawSox Ballpark Proposal

Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo on Tuesday stood by the current proposal to build a new ballpark for the Pawtucket Red Sox and said House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello’s concerns about public risk in the deal have not convinced her it needs to be renegotiated.  Read more here.

PawSox Disclose Net Equity, But Won’t Disclose Profits

The owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, International League) have refused a request from the Senate Finance Committee to disclose how much of an annual profit the team generates at McCoy Stadium, as the panel considers a ballpark financing plan.  Read more here.

Pawtucket City Council Votes to Approve Ballpark Resolution

At a special meeting Tuesday night, the Pawtucket (RI) City Council approved a resolution encouraging the General Assembly to allow the city to bond up to $15 million for the cost of the proposed Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A, International League) stadium.  Read more and watch news report here.
