MiLB President Presses Prince William County on New P-Nats Ballpark

Minor League Baseball Pat O’Connor showed his frustration yesterday at the lack of urgency to build the Potomac Nationals (Single-A, Carolina League) a new stadium.  In a meeting with the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, he said Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge (VA) is not up to the league’s player development and fan standards.  Read more here.

Squirrels a Victim of Their Own Success?

Minor League Baseball President Pat O’Conner is “guardedly optimistic” that a new ballpark deal will get done in Richmond, but he fears that the success at the gate by the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels (Eastern League) could cause decision makers to set aside any urgency.  Of course, O’Connor is playing games here by sending a message to keep the heat on, but it’s a legitimate concern.  Read more here.

Little Fenway Park Visionary Joins Bay Sox Ownership Group

Pat O’Connor and his wife Beth from Vermont have purchased a share of the summer collegiate New Bedford (MA) Bay Sox (New England Collegiate Baseball League).  Mr. O’Connor, a software development manager at IBM, will serve as president of the team. Oh yes, and he operates a pretty nifty mini-Fenway Park he built on his rural property, which he uses to raise money for charity.  Read more here.

MiLB Chief Gives False Hope to Kinston?
