Price Cutter Park Undergoing Renovations, Will Host Summer Collegiate League
Price-Cutter Park, the former home of the defunct Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks (Independent, Central Baseball League), is undergoing renovations after Oklahoma businessman Jeff Williams purchased the facility this winter. Improvements include artificial turf and LED videoboard. The stadium will be home of the new four-team Show Me Collegiate League operated by U.S. Baseball. Read more and watch news report here.
Price Cutter Stadium Purchased, Hope for Baseball Returns
Businessmen Joel Benenson, of New York City, and Jeff Williams, of Tuttle (OK), have purchased OMS, LLC and Price Cutter Stadium from Chicago businessman Horn Chen. Just about four hours later, the Ozark (MO) Board of Aldermen entered into an agreement with the company that will bring baseball back to town in March 2016. Read more here.

Ozarks Pro Baseball Pulls Plug on Season
Ozarks Pro Baseball, an independent league organizers hoped would become a mainstay in the Springfield (MO) area, suspended operations and told players to go home this week. See Facebook posting here. The league had been holding games at sites in Arkansas and in West Plains as negotiations apparently continued with the owner of Price Cutter Park. Read more here.

Ozarks Pro Baseball Begins Play

Playing at Price Cutter Park or Not, Ozarks Pro Baseball Prepares to Begin Inaugural Season
After months of tryouts and planning, the season will soon be underway for Ozarks Pro Baseball, a developmental, barnstorming minor league. A deal to purchase Price Cutter Park is now on the table, but let’s not have any Art Wilkinson delusions that this will somehow turn minor league baseball on its head. It is what it is. Ozarks Pro Baseball Ready to Play Ball, Wilkinson Split Discussed
Tony Hutchinson, one of the founders of Ozarks Pro Baseball, says tryouts have been held, and the teams in the new league — named the Black Bears, Copperheads, Cottonmouths, Mountaineers, Ridgerunners and Whitetails — should begin play around July 5. At this point, the circuit will not play at Price Cutter Park. Read more here and here. Below is a comment from Hutchinson about the split with coach and administrator Art Wilkinson:
“[T]he skepticism about what we’re trying to do because of Art has made it difficult. It’s been tough on us to get things done that we thought were taken care of because of Art. But we’re hopeful.”

Ozark (MO) League(s) Still Plan to Begin Play in July
Opening day is just weeks away for the start-up Ozarks Pro Baseball and now-competing Heartland of America Baseball League, but as of this afternoon, neither organization had purchased Price Cutter Park, but both still plan to play. Read more here. Funny thing, until today, coach and league(s) founder Phil Wilson was still pictured on both league websites. See here and here. He no longer appears on the Heartland site. An internal spat?

June Crickets at Price Cutter Field
Despite the chest-puffing, confident claims made by “Art Wilkinson” in the comments section of this posting, there is still no word from Ozarks Pro Baseball or the Heartland of America Baseball League about setting up shop at Price Cutter Field in Ozark (MO) with a 10-team, no-travel circuit beginning this season.
