Milwaukie Pulls Plug On Ballpark Project

The City of Milwaukie (OR) has decided shelve a plan to build a new baseball stadium, after time ran out to provide a needed economic feasibility study for building a more modest facility for a summer collegiate West Coast League franchise, after talks broke down with the Single-A Northwest League.  Read more here.

The “Hills” in Florida and Oregon Seek to Lure Teams

In Florida, Hillsborough County hopes to restart talks with the Tampa Bay Rays to bring the team to Tampa from St. Petersburg.  Read more here.  Meanwhile, in Oregon, the City of Hillsboro has decided to enter the new ballpark sweepstakes in an effort to attract a Single-A Northwest League club.  Read more here.

Meetings Planned for Public Vetting of Milwaukie Ballpark Proposal

The City of Milwaukie (OR) has scheduled three public meetings to allow citizens to weigh in on the proposed new baseball stadium targeted for Oregon Department of Transportation property south of Milwaukie.  The so-called listening posts are scheduled from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, Wednesday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 17.  Read more here.

Volunteers Clean Up Civic Stadium Yard

Despite the fact that the future of historic Civic Stadium in Eugene (OR) is still up in the air, a crew of more than 20 volunteers organized by the “Save Civic Stadium” group showed up at the old ballpark on Saturday for a day of on-field clean up.  Read more and view video here.
