Can-Am League Focused On Finalizing Ottawa Stadium Lease

Can-Am League LogoMiles Wolff, the commissioner of the indy pro Can-Am League, says he has spoken with people interested in owning an Ottawa (ON) expansion franchise, but his priority is formalizing a lease for Ottawa Stadium.  Wolff expects to have local owners lined up within three or four months.  Read more here.

Double-A Ball Actually Headed Toward Ottawa?

An agreement has reportedly been reached between the City of Ottawa and middleman/broker Beacon Sports, and Beacon Sports and an unnamed Double-A Eastern League team, to bring the franchise to a renovated Ottawa Stadium beginning in 2014.  Read more hereRead mayor’s press release here.

No Chance Fisher Cats Affiliation Moving to Ottawa?

Frontier League Back in London? (UPDATED)

On the heels of winning Canada’s Favourite Ballpark contest, historic Labatt Park in London (ON) could again host an indy pro Frontier League franchise.  It’s very preliminary, but a group from Illinois is reportedly exploring the market. IBL’s Mississauga Twins Relocate to Burlington

We don’t typically post stories about non-pro or non-collegiate adult league’s, but with the Intercounty Baseball League‘s Ottawa Fat Cats playing at 10,000-seat Ottawa Stadium, we’ll entertain a modest level of news about the Canadian circuit.  That said, the Mississauga (ON) Twins have relocated about 30 kms down the road to Burlington (ON) and will play at Nelson Park.  Read more here and here.  Both communities Continue reading
