Augusta GreenJackets Attendance in New Ballpark Looking Good, So Far
While the last game of the Augusta GreenJackets’ (Single-A, South Atlantic League) inaugural four-game home stand at the new SRP Park was postponed because of weather, attendance for the first three games was enough to put the team in fourth place out of 14 teams in the South Atlantic with 5,102 fans per game. The team averaged 2,743 fans per game in 2017. Watch a clip of home opener below:

GreenJackets Ballpark Update
The new stadium for the Augusta GreenJackets (Single-A, South Atlantic League), the right-field restaurant, and the adjacent apartments and hotel deck are all under construction in North Augusta (SC). Construction is expected to begin on the condos and retail development directly around the hotel in next 60-90 days. Read more and watch news report here.

Preliminary Work Begins on Project Jackson
Preliminary site and surveying work has begun on Project Jackson, a mixed-use development situated on 30 acres near the North Augusta (SC) waterfront. City Council members voted 6-0 at a special council meeting Monday night on final reading of an ordinance authorizing the City to enter into an installment purchase agreement of up to $16 million to complete preliminary infrastructure work. Council Renews Project Jackson Funding Mechanism
The North Augusta (SC) City Council took action Monday to renew the Municipal Improvement District for Project Jackson — a $183 million planned development beside the Hammond’s Ferry neighborhood with a baseball park overlooking the Savannah River; a hotel; a conference center; and retail, living and office space. A 2017 July Fourth Ballpark Opening Still Possible for GreenJackets
North Augusta (SC) is close to finalizing a master development agreement for Project Jackson. Once construction starts, it will take 14 months to complete the project, so the Augusta GreenJackets (Single-A, South Atlantic League) won’t be opening the start of the 2017 baseball season in a new ballpark. Agon Sports Has a Proven Plan for New Boise Ballpark
The Boise Hawks’ (Single-A, Northwest League) new ownership group, Agon Sports and Entertainment, came into Boise last fall well aware of the club’s need for a new ballpark. The group wants to mirror what it has done in Fort Wayne (IN), and what it’s about to do in North Augusta (SC), to get it done in Idaho’s capital city. Read more here.
