Old Hamtramck Stadium, located just north of General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck plant, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 31, 2012. The field hosted the Negro League’s Detroit Stars baseball team from 1930-1937. Read more here and here. Learn about the stadium’s history here.
The non-profit group Friends of Hinchcliffe Stadium are still working to save and preserve the old Negro League ballpark in Paterson, NJ. Hinchcliffe is reportedly one of only four remaining Negro League ballparks in America. The estimated cost of restore Hinchcliffe is $10 to $15 million. Read more here.
