The Groton (CT) Town Council finalized a deal on Tuesday night that would bring the NECBL’s Bristol (CT) team to the Groton/Mystic area. The team will play at an improved field at Fitch High School. A new team name has apparently been chosen, but it’s “still under wraps.” Read more here.

Name-the-Team Contest Underway in Mystic/Groton
As previously reported, the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s team in Bristol (CT) recently relocated to Mystic/Groton (CT) after one unsuccessful season at historic Muzzy Field. Anonymous Donor Made Bristol to Groton Move Possible
A $500,000 anonymous donation to improve the baseball field at Fitch High School in Groton (CT) made it feasible for the NECBL’s Bristol (CT) team to relocate to the Mystic/Groton area. The field will get all new lights, a concession stand with bathrooms, outfield fencing, bullpens, and a press box. Reportedly, the donor will up the ante if necessary to make the park viable for the 2011 season. Read more here.

Goodbye Bristol, Hello Mystic/Groton
