Price for El Paso Ballpark $10 Million More?

El Paso to Ask Nicely for Personal Guarantee

Pacific Coast LeagueThe city of El Paso (TX) will ask the MountainStar Sports Group investors for a personal guarantee of the additional $12.1 million the group recently agreed to pay toward the Downtown ballpark, after the City Council on Tuesday voted 6-2 in favor of making the request.  The idea was put forth by City Council Rep. El Paso Approves Ballpark Deal

The El Paso City Council voted 4-3 Tuesday night to approve the contract with MountainStar Sports Group to build a new downtown ballpark and bring the Triple-A Tucson Padres (Pacific Coast League) to town.  The deal could still be scuttled by the mayor, if he chooses to veto it.  The council could still override a veto with a 6-2 vote.  Read more here.

Q & A With Mountainstar Sports, Group Presents to PCL Executive Committee

El Paso, Inc. recently interviewed Josh Hunt, one of the partners in Mountainstar Sports Group, the organization working to bring a relocated Triple-A Pacific Coast League club to a new $50 million ballpark in downtown El Paso.  On Tuesday, the city council approved demolition of the current city hall to make room for the stadium.  On Friday, Mountainstar made it’s pitch to the Pacific Coast League’s executive committee.  Read more here.
