PRESS RELEASE – This annual game is set for Wednesday, May 29th at 12:30 pm and will celebrate the beginning of baseball at Rickwood Field. The game will feature the Birmingham Barons against the Montgomery Biscuits, the Double-A Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. Former veteran MLB player and Manager “Sweet Lou” Piniella will be the special guest of honor and will be available for autographs during the game.

Faced with a public backlash, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer on Monday put the brakes on a plan to tear down the grandstands and buildings at historic Tinker Field — at least for now. Read more here. The field first hosted baseball in 1914. The Single-A Orlando Rays (Southern League) moved from Tinker to Cracker Jack Stadium/Champion Stadium in 2000 before relocating to Montgomery (AL) in 2004.
An estimated 1,500 chili-lovin’ football fans showed up at Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits (Southern League), on Saturday for the Lions Club’s annual Capital City Chili Cook-off.
