It’s the ‘Missoula PaddleHeads’

After 21 seasons as the Osprey, Missoula’s Pioneer League team announced a name change at a team rebranding event held Monday morning at the Missoula Children’s Theater.  The Osprey are now the Missoula PaddleHeads, Rookie Advanced affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Read more here.

After Success of First Big Concert at Ballpark, Efforts Underway to Improve Future Events

The recent Mumford and Sons show in Missoula (MT) saw a huge turnout at Ogren Park in the Old Saw Mill District.  Despite damage to the field that caused the Missoula Osprey (Rookie, Pioneer League) to miss six home games, officials are now working to improve on what they see as a successful production to make upcoming shows even better.  Read more here.

Deal Approved: Concerts Coming to Osprey’s Ballpark

The Missoula (MT) City Council on Wednesday ratified an agreement struck with the Missoula Osprey (Rookie, Pioneer League) and concert-promoter Logjam Presents to make greater use of Civic Stadium and bring the city more financial security in paying the facility’s debt.  The three-way agreement reduces the team’s annual lease from $120,000 to $40,000 a year.  Read more here.

Osprey Complete Another ‘Float to the Ballpark’ Promo (We Think)

Missoula Osprey LogoWe were passing through Missoula (MT) on Sunday afternoon and stopped by Ogren Park at Allegience Field a few hours before the Rookie-level Missoula Osprey (Pioneer League) game to see if the “Float to the Ballpark” participants had docked yet.  They hadn’t, but we took a few photos to give you a feel for the venue.  We have yet to see a report from the Osprey on their website, Facebook or Twitter page that the promo actually took place, but we assume it did.  View our photos here.  Read about the float promo here.  View photos from 2012 here.

Trouble for Missoula Ballpark Transfer?

Critic Withdraws Lawsuit Against Missoula

Ross Best, a huge critic of Missoula’s acquisition of Ogren Park, home of the Rookie-level Missoula Osprey (Pioneer League), has withdrawn his lawsuit against the city over concerns about his health.  Rather than engaging in a potentially protracted legal battle, Best had decided to focus his efforts on a petition drive to put the issue before the voters.  Read more here.

Missoula Buys Ballpark

The Missoula (MT) City Council voted on Monday to spend $2 million in urban renewal funds and issue $1.555 million in bonds to purchase Ogren Park, home of the Rookie-level Missoula Osprey (Pioneer League), to keep the facility from foreclosure.   The Osprey will make $120,000 in annual payments to pay off the debt.  Read more here.

Council Committee Recommends Ballpark Buyout

The Missoula (MT) City Council’s Administration and Finance Committee voted 6-3 on Wednesday to recommend the city assume a $3.5 million share of the outstanding debt on Ogren Park, home of the Rookie-level Missoula Osprey (Pioneer League), to keep the ballpark from foreclosure.  The full council will vote on the deal next Monday.  Read more here.

Looking to Refinance Ballpark in Missoula

Play Ball Missoula is working on a refinancing plan to pay off Ogren Park, home of the Pioneer League’s Missoula (MT) Osprey.  The organization was formed to build the $12 million stadium and receives a precentage of tickets sales and other revenue streams to make facility debt payments.  Play Ball would like to see a flat rate lease from the Osprey to ensure predictable income.  Read more here.
