Joplin Approves Lease for American Association Team, Outlaws Will Play On
Congratulatory remarks were exchanged Tuesday night after a meeting in which the Joplin City Council approved the lease of Joe Becker Stadium for a professional baseball development that will bring the indy pro El Paso Diablos (American Association) to town in 2015. MINK League Expands by One
PRESS RELEASE – he MINK League voted at its winter meeting on October 6th in St Joe, Missouri to expand the league by 1 team. Please welcome the Branson Nationals baseball team to the MINK League. Branson will begin play in 2014 as a member of the South Division as the 5th team joining Joplin, Ozark, Nevada and Sedalia. Phil Welch Stadium Hosts Boxing Event
For the first time in its 74-year history, Phil Welch Stadium, home of the summer collegiate St. Joseph Mustangs (MINK League), hosted a boxing match. The Saturday night event was billed as the “Battle at the Ballpark.” Read more and watch video here.

Old Scoreboard Swiped
The 40-year-old scoreboard from Christensen Field in Beatrice (NE) has been stolen. It was being stored at the back of right field after it was replaced with a new scoreboard purchased with the help of a $10,000 gift from New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain. The old scoreboard was going to be refurbished and relocated to the park’s entrace where it would welcome visitors. Read more here.

Phil Welch, Mustangs Host Tournament
Historic Phil Welch Stadium will play host to the NAIA Heart of America Athletic Conference baseball tournament on May 5-9. The tournment will feature the conferences top six teams. According to Dan Gerson, owner of the summer collegiate St. Joseph Mustangs, this is the first of a number of events that could come to Phil Welch. MINK League Loses Two, Gains Two
The MINK League will operate with 10 teams in 2010. League officials approved the memberships of the Excelsior Springs Cougars and Omaha Diamond Spririt. The teams replace the Topeka Giants, which departed the league last week to become an independent club, and the Beatrice Bruins, which folded. Read more here.
