Luther Williams Field Renovations Detailed, Work Begins in October
Bibb County (GA) leaders took a tour of historic Luther Williams Field Thursday to see the new plans for their $2.5 million renovations. The project will update 10 areas in the stadium, starting at the entrance. New Macon Team Unveils Ticket Packages, Ballpark to Received $2.5M in Upgrades
Officials representing the new Coastal Plain (Summer Collegiate) franchise setting up shop at Luther Williams Field in Macon (GA) have announced details about season ticket packages, which include all-you-can-eat food and drinks and in-your-seat wait service. Luther Williams stadium is slated to receive as much as $2.5 million in upgrades in preparation for the new team. Read more here. Deadline Extended for Naming Macon’s New Team
The contest to choose a name for Macon’s new baseball team is going into extra innings. A deadline of Monday, July 31, was set, but the team has given fans an extra 48 hours to chime in. IFC’s ‘Brockmire’ to Begin Shooting Soon at Macon’s Luther Williams Field
A film crew is scheduled to begin shooting a new TV series in Macon (GA) next week, and historic Luther Williams Field will play a key role. The series, called Brockmire, is about a famed but fallen Major League Baseball announcer, played by actor Hank Azaria, who is trying to revive his career after an embarrassing on-air meltdown. Macon-Bibb County Approves $50K for Ballpark Feasibility Study
By a narrow 5-4 vote, the Macon-Bibb County Commission on Tuesday approved spending $50,000 for a feasibility study to determine if the city can support a new ballpark and a minor league baseball team. Washington, D.C.-based Brailsford & Dunlavey will complete a market analysis and economic feasibility study, which will take about 10 weeks to complete. Read more here. Watch news report here.

A proposed resolution, backed by the Macon (GA) mayor’s office, seeks a feasibility study of whether a Major League Baseball affiliate could be landed and what kind of facilities and public investment it would take to make it happen.
