New Macon Team Unveils Ticket Packages, Ballpark to Received $2.5M in Upgrades

Officials representing the new Coastal Plain (Summer Collegiate) franchise setting up shop at Luther Williams Field in Macon (GA) have announced details about season ticket packages, which include all-you-can-eat food and drinks and in-your-seat wait service.  Luther Williams stadium is slated to receive as much as $2.5 million in upgrades in preparation for the new team.  Read more here.  As we previously posted, the possible nicknames for the team are Soul, Bacon, Hits, Heat, and Noise.

IFC’s ‘Brockmire’ to Begin Shooting Soon at Macon’s Luther Williams Field

IFC LogoA film crew is scheduled to begin shooting a new TV series in Macon (GA) next week, and historic Luther Williams Field will play a key role.  The series, called  Brockmire, is about a famed but fallen Major League Baseball announcer, played by actor Hank Azaria, who is trying to revive his career after an embarrassing on-air meltdown.  Actress Amanda Peet will also star in the series.  Read more here.  Thanks to Joe DeLeonard for the news.

Filming of ’42’ Movie Moves on to Macon

Filming of 42, a new movie about the life of Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford has moved on to historic Luther Williams Field in Macon (GA).  Read more here.  Filming began at historic Engel Stadium in Chattanooga (TN) in May.  Read more here.

Peach State League Pulls Plug on 2011 Season

A week after announcing that the indy pro Peach State League and the Macon (GA) Pinetoppers would be back at Luther Williams Field for season two, Bill Larsen and Chris Diserio announced that they would not operate in 2011, with the hope of returning in 2012.  Read more here.

Peach State League, Pinetoppers to Return in 2011
