The summer collegiate Lorain County Ironmen on Thursday announced that the team has left the Prospect League and will begin play in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League beginning in 2015. A team official said the move is designed to provide geographical advantages and ease travel for players. Read more here.
The Pipe Yard, home of the summer collegiate Lorain County Ironmen (Prospect League), has a new name. The ballpark will now be known as “Pipe Yard Stadium powered by FirstEnergy Solutions.” The ballpark naming rights deal with the power company is for eight years and appears to be funded solely by discounted energy provided to the city. PRESS RELEASE – The Lorain County Ironmen are proud to announce the promotion of Brian McCrodden to the position of General Manager.
