The London (ON) City Council voted 9-3 on Monday to approve a plan by Summit Professional Baseball to bring the former Oakland County Cruisers to Labatt Park for the 2012 season. The London Majors, a local semi-pro team from the Intercounty Baseball League, is not happy about the deal and even started an online petition to block it. Read more here and here.

Frontier League Back in London? (UPDATED)
On the heels of winning Canada’s Favourite Ballpark contest, historic Labatt Park in London (ON) could again host an indy pro Frontier League franchise. It’s very preliminary, but a group from Illinois is reportedly exploring the market. Labatt hosted the league’s London Werewolves from 1999-2001. Read more here. Final Round of Voting Begins in Canada’s Favourite Ballpark Contest
The final round of voting is now underway in Canada’s Favourite Ballpark Contest. Fans have until Sept. 6th to choose between Labatt Park, former home of the indy pro London (ON) Werewolves (Frontier League) or Port Arthur Stadium, home of the summer collegiate Thunder Bay (ON) Border Cats (Northwoods League), as Canada’s Favourite Ballpark.
