Construction crews started work on a project to remove the turf at Uni-Trade Stadiums and replace it with artificial grass. In addition to the turf, the stadium is adding new LED lighting, a new scoreboard, a pool, and batting cages for the fans. Read more and watch news report here.

Baseball Returning to Laredo
Laredo (TX) City Council last week unanimously voted in favor of a proposal to bring baseball back to Laredo. The Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (Owls of the Two Laredos) will occupy Uni-Trade Stadium for the 2018 Liga Mexicana de Béisbol campaign. The squad is set to split its home schedule between the sister cities. Read more here.

The Laredo (TX) City Council voted this week to send a letter to all parties involved with the Laredo Lemurs (Independent Professional, American Association) to vacate the premises of Uni-Trade Stadium and pursue proposals for buyers or leasers for the stadium. Read more here.

Lemurs Announce Two-Game Sister Cities Classic
The indy pro Laredo Lemurs (American Association) and Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo (Liga del Norte) will battle it out in the two-game Sister Cities Baseball Classic. The first game will be played at Uni-Trade Stadium on November 6, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The teams will then travel just across the border for a game at Parque La Junta Field on November 7, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. Read more here.
