The owner of the Lancaster Barnstormers (Independent Professional, Atlantic League), enduring heavy losses, is asking Lancaster County to help pay its rent at Clipper Magazine Stadium.  But the county would get repaid in full by 2034, according to a proposal by Lancaster Baseball LLC.  Read more here.

All-Star Game Returns to Lancaster, Logo Unveiled

PRESS RELEASE – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today announced that its All-Star Game and the All-Star Gala will return to Lancaster, PA for the first time since 2007. The All-Star Game will be held at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Wednesday, July 13th. All-Star festivities and celebrations will be presented throughout Lancaster County on Tuesday, July 12th and leading up to the game.

New Owners of Lancaster Barnstormers Announced

PRESS RELEASE – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) and Dakota Baseball, LLC jointly announced the acquisition of the Lancaster Barnstormers from Opening Day Partners (ODP), effective immediately. The transaction creates local ownership and operation of the Lancaster Barnstormers as part of a transition plan conceived by Dakota Baseball and ODP.

Danos Moves to Houston to Advance Atlantic League’s Expansion Plans

Jon Danos, partner, president and CEO for Opening Day Partners (ODP), the owner of the indy pro Lancaster Barnstormers (Atlantic League), has moved to Houston to work on plans for the league to add more teams in Texas.  ODP also owns the Sugar Land Skeeters — the circuit’s lone franchise in the Lone Star State.  Read more here.

Barnstormers Getting New Playing Surface

After eight-plus years of life, several hundred ballgames and many other events, the entire grass surface at Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the indy pro Lancaster Barnstormers (Atlantic League), is being revamped for the first time since the stadium opened in May 2005.  Read more here.

Barnstormers to Become Hex for ‘What Could Have Been Night’

On June 28, Lancaster’s Atlantic League entry will be known as the Hex, also a name paying tribute to the area’s rich Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. Artist Stitches Ballpark, City Together

Inspired by the stiches on a baseball, artist Derek Parker from North Adams (MA) is installing a new sculpture at Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the indy pro Lancaster Barnstormers (Atlantic League).  The red-painted metal plates arranged along the walkway in front of the stadium metaphorically stitch together the team’s home and the city around it.  Read more and view photo here.

Barnstormers, Clipper Magazine Stadium to Host Lancaster vs. York Hockey Classic

The Ice Park at Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the indy pro Lancaster Barnstormers (Atlantic League), will host its first ever sanctioned hockey game on Jan. 9.  The midget hockey battle will pit Lancaster’s Regency Panthers against the York Devils.  This is not quite the NHL or ECHL, but it should be a lot of fun nevertheless.  Read more here.
