With scant discussion and one dissenting vote, the City Council approved the request of the Winnipesaukee Muskrats (Summer Collegiate, New England Collegiate Baseball League) to offer beer and wine, along with hamburgers and hot dogs from the grill, at all home games at Robbie Mills Field during the 2016 season. Muskrats Change Name
PRESS RELEASE – The Laconia Muskrats, a longtime member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) located in the Lakes Region in New Hampshire, have announced a team name change; beginning today, the organization will now be known as the Winnipesaukee Muskrats, as announced by Kristian Svindland, newly appointed General Manager of the organization. Mariano Rivera, Jr. to Play for Muskrats
We don’t typically report on players, but we found it interesting that Mariano Rivera, Jr., son of retired New York Yankees star reliever Mariano Rivera, will be playing for the summer collegiate Laconia Muskrats (New England Collegiate Baseball League) this summer. The 20-year-old Rivera is a sophomore at Iona College in New Rochelle (NY). Read more here.
