Name the Team Voting Underway for Port Angeles Franchise

West Coast League LogoMatt Acker, who is working to place a summer collegiate West Coast League franchise in Port Angeles (WA), has narrowed the list of potential team names to Hooks,  Pinchers, Sasquatch and Timber Giants.  Vote here.  Read background story here.  Based on a clue in the background story about a relocation and the rumor we have heard, it appears Acker is going to move his once-promising but now-attendance-cellar-dweller Kitsap BlueJackets to Port Angeles under a new name, and place the BlueJackets in the Puget Sound Collegiate League, where he serves as president.  Read about Acker’s acquisition of the BlueJackets here.

Kitsap BlueJackets Sold

Kitsap BlueJackets LogoMatt Acker, a former coach of the summer collegiate Kitsap BlueJackets (West Coast League), said he’s signed a purchase agreement to buy the team from the current owners.  The league must still approve the transfer.  Read more here.  The BlueJackets play at the ballpark at Kitsap Fairgrounds.  Thanks to Brandon Sparks from OlySports.com for the heads up.

WCL Teams Play Charity Game at Historic Olympic Stadium

PRESS RELEASE – The Kelowna Falcons downed the Kitsap BlueJackets 5-3 Wednesday night at historic Olympic Stadium in Grays Harbor, Washington.  Long-time high school coach and Grays Harbor Community College athletic director Ken Waite’s memory was honored by an enthusiastic crowd [of 250] attending the charity game played in temperatures in the 50s.
