The Kansas City Monarchs are back — sort of.  New owners of the Kansas City T-Bones baseball club in Kansas City (KS) announced Thursday that the team will adopt the name of Kansas City’s storied Negro Leagues team beginning this season.  Read more here.

Royals, Orioles Will Pay Tribute to Negro Leagues

Kansas City Royals LogoBaltimore Orioles Cartoon Logo 2012The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles will don Negro Leagues uniforms on May 18 at Kauffman Stadium.  The Royals will be wearing Kansas City Monarchs jerseys and the Baltimore Orioles will be sporting those of the Baltimore Black Sox.  Read more here.

Baseball Stadium’s Nostalgic Past Key to Development?

With the 2012 MLB All-Star Game coming to Kansas City (MO) in July, the site of old Municipal Stadium, opened in 1923 and demolished in 1976, is getting a little attention.  City officials unveiled a $300,000 plan Friday to capitalize on the site’s storied baseball past to jumpstart development.  Read more hereView stadium photos here.
