The Future of Jackson’s Smith-Wills Stadium
The future of Smith-Wills Stadium is still up in the air, with Jackson (MS) city officials still undecided how to move forward with the property. Last year, the city brought on Tim Bennett, owner of the Biloxi Shuckers (Double-A, Southern League), to do an assessment of stadium and help determine its viability for tournaments and events. Opening in 1975, a number of affiliated and independent clubs played at the ballpark over the years. Read more here.

Donated Land Near Jackson Ballpark Approved for Future Development

Generals, D-Backs Agree to PDC

Biloxi Ballpark Plan Approved!

Generals’ Field Renovations Should Wrap Up Today
The playing surface at The Ballpark at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park), home of the Double-A Jackson Generals (Southern League), is getting a makeover. Installation of the new drainage and sod should be completed Tuesday. The Generals had multiple games canceled or rescheduled last season due to unplayable field conditions. Read more here. Generals’ Harris Named 2013 Southern League Broadcaster of the Year

Generals Turn On New Lights

Pringles Park No More

Improvements to Pringles Park on Docket
The Jackson (TN) City Council will consider tonight a request from the Double-A Jackson Generals (Southern League) for $200,000 in improvements to Pringles Park, including expanding the box office and concession stand areas, and improving the lighting to meet MiLB standards. 25th Sellout for Blue Wahoos
A sellout crowd of 5,038 packed Pensacola Bayfront Stadium on Friday night to watch the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Southern League) win 6-1 over the Jackson Generals. The sellout was the 25th of the season over the team’s 38 home dates so far this season. The team leads the league in attendance. Read more here.

Generals Name New GM

Pringles Park to Get Upgrades
The Jackson (TN) City Council approved funding on Tuesday to upgrade the luxury suites and replace the video scoreboard at Pringles Park, home of the Double-A Jackson Generals (Southern League). The council voted down a proposal to build a new children’s playground at the stadium. Read more here.

‘Children of Tennessee’s Fallen Warriors’ Monument to Be Dedicated at Pringles Park

Livingston Parish Mandalaying Ahead with New Ballpark Proposal
Livingston Parish (LA) near Baton Rouge has entered into an initial agreement to lease a proposed new 5,500-seat ballpark to Mandalay Baseball Properties LLC for 20-years for what is expected to be a Double-A Southern League club. The Huntsville (AL) Stars or Jackson (TN) Generals would appear to be the most likely relocation targets. The team would reportedly begin play in 2013. Read more here.
Parish Near Baton Rouge Eyeballing Double-A Club
Livingston (LA) Parish near Baton Rouge is reportedly in talks with the owner of an existing Double-A club about building a new $30 million ballpark and relocating the team. The Southern League’s attendance-challenged (#212) Huntsville (AL) Stars and (#181) Jackson (TN) Generals (formerly West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx) would seem to be the most likely targets. ‘Sarge’ the Bulldog Selected as Mascot for Generals

Diamond Jaxx to Become Jackson Generals
