A naming rights partnership for the proposed Frontier League (Independent Professional) baseball stadium and team was expected to be announced at the Tuesday, Aug. 8 Board of Commissioners study session before the deal fell apart. Dan DuBois, chief financial officer at RW Mercer Co. who also spent 14 seasons in finances and planning at Michigan International Speedway, is proposing a plan to build a new baseball stadium in Jackson (MI) and bring in a professional baseball team — possibly a Frontier League franchise. Jackson has a city population of around 35,000. Jackson County has a population of around 160,000. Read more here.
