A renovation of Holman Stadium is currently underway at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach (FL). New seating, a higher outfield fence, rebranding of the scoreboard and a new location for the bullpen behind the left field fence are all part of MLB’s $10 million project, which also includes updating the complex’s motel rooms and building an indoor training facility. Banners Honor Newcombe, Campanella at Holman Stadium
Two 12-foot banners depicting and commemorating two African American baseball players, Don Newcombe and Roy Campanella, who played for the Nashua Dodgers and then went on to star for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the major leagues, were unveiled Tuesday at Holman Stadium in Nashua (NH). Nashua Making the Grade in Season Two
The summer collegiate Nashua Silver Knights (Futures Collegiate Baseball League) are in their second season and Holman Stadium, and all appears to be going progressively well with the expert Single-A Lowell Spinners (New York-Penn League) at the helm of the operations. Nashua (NH) Mayor Donnalee Lozeau’s office plans to announce at a press conference on Thursday that Holman Stadium will be getting a new franchise from a newly formed summer collegiate league. Writer Advocates for NECBL in Nashua
Nashua Telegraph writer Tom King makes the pitch for the New England Collegiate Baseball League to fill the void at Holman Stadium left by the departed American Defenders of New Hampshire (now Pittsfield Colonials). This is a no brainer, as affiliated ball is out of the question, and the indy pro Nashua Nighthawks, Nashua Pride, and Defenders could not make a go of it.
