University of Arizona Takes Over Management of Hi Corbett Field

A deal between the University of Arizona and the city of Tucson (AZ) will keep Hi Corbett Field open for another generation of baseball fans.  Under the 25-year agreement, the UA will take over the day-to-day management of the former spring training facility.  Read more here.

City: Sharing Hi-Corbett Field Unrealistic

Jay Zucker, owner of the indy pro Tucson Toros (North American League), is fighting to get back in Hi-Corbett Field after taking a one-year hiatus.  However, the city is telling Zucker that sharing the field with University of Arizona Wildcats, the facility’s new “exclusive” tenant, is unrealistic.

Toros Seek Court Order to Unlock Hi-Corbett Field Gates

The indy pro Tucson Toros (Golden Baseball League) are seeking a court order that would allow them back into Hi-Corbett Field.  The city claims the Toros abandoned the park, after the team went on hiatus when the Triple-A Portland Beavers (Pacific Coast League) moved to Tucson’s Kino Stadium and became the Tucson Padres.

Padres Go Disco at Hi-Corbett Field

PRESS RELEASE – It will be a desert Disco Inferno tomorrow night at Hi-Corbett Field, as the Triple-A Tucson Padres hold “Roll Back the Clock Night” to celebrate the ballpark where Triple-A baseball began in Tucson in 1969.  The Tucson Toros won a division title in 1973 (which gets us a tad closer to the actual mid-70s to early-80s disco era).
