A $1 Million Grant for Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, $5.8 Million Upgrade Coming

State Sen. James Seward brought baseball metaphors and $1 million to the village Monday, with a state Senate grant to seed a $5.8 million upgrade of Doubleday Field in Cooperstown (NY) in time for its 100th anniversary celebration in 2020.  Read more here.   Go to ballpark site here.

Montreal Expos Fans Invade 2017 Hall of Fame Weekend

There were many, many Expos fans in Cooperstown, having come from about five hours away by cars and by bus. They were all together again, rooting for a common cause, and in the process showing a national American audience on television — not to mention current commissioner Rob Manfred — that if MLB should return to Quebec, their arms would be wide open.  Read more here and here.

Celebrating Yogi’s 87th Birthday

The New York Yankees and fans celebrated Yogi Berra‘s 87th birthday on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.  The Hall of Famer was driven around the field in a golf cart before stopping at home plate, where he was honored with a cake and the crowd’s touching rendition of “Happy Birthday.”  Read more hereView a fan video here.

Tribute to Harmon Killebrew at Target Field

Beloved Baseball Legend Harmon Killebrew Enters Hospice Care
