Former Home of Atlanta Braves, Olympics Begins New Chapter

The former home of the Atlanta Braves and the 1996 Summer Olympic Games begins its new chapter as the 24,000-seat home of Georgia State’s fledgling football program.  This Sun Belt Conference team that has only been around since 2010 will try to carve out its own legacy.  The first game is Thursday against Tennessee State.  Read more and view photo here.

Georgia State Puts Finishing Touches on Braves’ Old Digs

Turner Field Redevelopment Plan Approved

Georgia State UniversityGeorgia State University will spend $52.8 million to buy and redevelop Turner Field and nearby properties.  It’s a major step forward in the school’s plan to convert the baseball stadium into a football stadium as part of a mixed-use development and campus expansion.  Read more and view photo here.  View stadium site here.

Georgia State U. Buys Turner Field, Redevelopment Includes New Football and Baseball Stadiums

Georgia State UniversityAtlanta and Fulton County have signed an agreement to sell Turner Field to Georgia State University for $30 million, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced Thursday.  Read more here and here.

College Football for Turner Field?
