PRESS RELEASE – The Fort Wayne TinCaps unveiled the uniforms for their Manzanas Luchadoras identity on Thursday. The team will be taking the field as the Manzanas Luchadoras (“Fighting Apples” in Spanish) for six games at Parkview Field during the 2020 season as part of Minor League Baseball’s Es Divertido Ser Un Fan (“It’s Fun to be A Fan”) Hispanic fan engagement initiative.

The last time Pat O’Conner was at Parkview Field was opening day of 2009, the first baseball game ever played in the downtown stadium. O’Conner, president of Minor League Baseball since 2007, returned to Fort Wayne on Wednesday for the Midwest League’s Fall Meeting, which the TinCaps played host to for the first time this week. Ballpark Hotel on Deck in Fort Wayne
In two weeks, the Fort Wayne (IN) Plan Commission will decide whether to approve the primary development plan for a new 136-room, seven-story Hampton Inn & Suites hotel downtown near Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Single-A, Midwest League), and Grand Wayne Center. The plan calls for ground-floor retail and a rooftop bar overlooking the baseball field. Read more here.

The Boise Hawks’ (Single-A, Northwest League) new ownership group, Agon Sports and Entertainment, came into Boise last fall well aware of the club’s need for a new ballpark. No Bids for Parcels Available for Development Around SB Cubs Ballpark
Some prime city-owned parcels around South Winds Field, home of the South Bend Cubs (Single-A, Midwest League), were put up for sale Thursday, but no offers were received. Ballpark Geyser Delays Game
A Single-A Fort Wayne TinCaps (Midwest League) game at Parkview Field was delayed 18 minutes, after a player sprinting to catch a foul ball ran into a sprinkler and triggered a geyser-like water blast that showered nearby fans and pitchers in the the TinCaps bullpen. Developer Offers Up Land for New Columbia Ballpark
Baseball developer Jason Freier told members of the Bull Street Commission during their meeting Monday that developer Bob Hughes would donate between 10 and 12 acres of land if a baseball stadium was approved in Columbia (SC). Parkview Field a Model for Savannah

Invasive Grass Forces Turf Replacement at Parkview Field
The Fort Wayne (IN) Redevelopment Commission gave initial approval on Monday to spend $90,000 of the $140,000 needed to replace the sod at Parkview Field, home of the Single-A Fort Wayne TinCaps (Midwest League), because it’s now infested with an invasive grass.
