TinCaps Unveil Uniforms for Manzanas Luchadoras Identity

PRESS RELEASE – The Fort Wayne TinCaps unveiled the uniforms for their Manzanas Luchadoras identity on Thursday. The team will be taking the field as the Manzanas Luchadoras (“Fighting Apples” in Spanish) for six games at Parkview Field during the 2020 season as part of Minor League Baseball’s Es Divertido Ser Un Fan (“It’s Fun to be A Fan”) Hispanic fan engagement initiative.

TinCaps Host Midwest League Fall Meeting, MiLB Commissioner Heaps Praise

The last time Pat O’Conner was at Parkview Field was opening day of 2009, the first baseball game ever played in the downtown stadium.  O’Conner, president of Minor League Baseball since 2007, returned to Fort Wayne on Wednesday for the Midwest League’s Fall Meeting, which the TinCaps played host to for the first time this week.  Read more here.

TinCaps Unveil 2018 Promotional Schedule

Parkview Field Ranks No. 1 Fan Experience Again

Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Single-A, Midwest League), is featured on the cover of the January issue of Stadium Journey for being ranked the number one ballpark experience in minor league baseball for the fourth consecutive year.  Read more here and here.

Ballpark Hotel on Deck in Fort Wayne

In two weeks, the Fort Wayne (IN) Plan Commission will decide whether to approve the primary development plan for a new 136-room, seven-story Hampton Inn & Suites hotel downtown near Parkview Field, home of the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Single-A, Midwest League), and Grand Wayne Center.  The plan calls for ground-floor retail and a rooftop bar overlooking the baseball field.  Read more here.

TinCaps Awarded Minor League Baseball’s Top Honor

PRESS RELEASE – The Fort Wayne TinCaps, the Class A (Midwest League) affiliate of the San Diego Padres, are the recipients of Minor League Baseball’s 2016 John H. Johnson President’s Award. This is Minor League Baseball’s top honor for organizational excellence, awarded each year to just one out of the 160 teams across all levels (Rookie Leagues to Triple-A).

Parkview Field Ranked No. 1 Ballpark Experience in Minors

PRESS RELEASE – Parkview Field may soon neeed a bigger trophy case. For the third consecutive year, and for the fifth time in the last six years, Stadium Journey has ranked the home of the TinCaps as the best ballpark experience in all of Minor League Baseball. That’s out of 160 venues, ranging from the Rookie level up through Triple-A.

TinCaps to Add Group Seating Area

PRESS RELEASE – Minor League Baseball’s top-rated ballpark is about to get even better. The Fort Wayne TinCaps announced at a press conference on Thursday that the team is set to add a group seating area atop Parkview Field’s Tuthill 400 Club. The new section will be called “The Summit” and will be presented by Tuthill.

Agon Sports Has a Proven Plan for New Boise Ballpark

The Boise Hawks’ (Single-A, Northwest League) new ownership group, Agon Sports and Entertainment, came into Boise last fall well aware of the club’s need for a new ballpark.  The group wants to mirror what it has done in Fort Wayne (IN), and what it’s about to do in North Augusta (SC), to get it done in Idaho’s capital city.  Read more here.

No Bids for Parcels Available for Development Around SB Cubs Ballpark

Some prime city-owned parcels around South Winds Field, home of the South Bend Cubs (Single-A, Midwest League), were put up for sale Thursday, but no offers were received.  Nonetheless, city officials remain hopeful of making something big happen around the ballpark, similar to development in Fort Wayne.  Read more here.

Ballpark Geyser Delays Game

A Single-A Fort Wayne TinCaps (Midwest League) game at Parkview Field was delayed 18 minutes, after a player sprinting to catch a foul ball ran into a sprinkler and triggered a geyser-like water blast that showered nearby fans and pitchers in the the TinCaps bullpen.  Read more and watch video here.

Developer Offers Up Land for New Columbia Ballpark

Baseball developer Jason Freier told members of the Bull Street Commission during their meeting Monday that developer Bob Hughes would donate between 10 and 12 acres of land if a baseball stadium was approved in Columbia (SC).  Also, Freier said he got the green light from Major League Baseball to explore moving one of his teams to the area.  He owns, via Hardball Capital, the Single-A Fort Wayne

TinCaps Set Attendance Record

PRESS RELEASE – The Fort Wayne TinCaps welcomed fans to Parkview Field in record numbers during the 2012 season. Including the regular season and playoffs, 408,044 fans attended a TinCaps game at the downtown ballpark this season. This is the greatest attendance total in the 20-year history of professional baseball in Fort Wayne.

Parkview Field a Model for Savannah

Invasive Grass Forces Turf Replacement at Parkview Field

The Fort Wayne (IN) Redevelopment Commission gave initial approval on Monday to spend $90,000 of the $140,000 needed to replace the sod at Parkview Field, home of the Single-A Fort Wayne TinCaps (Midwest League), because it’s now infested with an invasive grass.  The team will pony up the remaining one-third cost for the project.  Read more and view photo here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

Couzens to Join TinCaps Broadcast Team
