The ‘Fenway Bowl’ Announced

Add another bowl game to the mix — the “Fenway Bowl” at Fenway Park.  The century-old baseball park will host a matchup between teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the American Athletic Conference (AAC), starting in 2020.  Read more here.

Globe Life Park Finds New Life

WWE mogul Vince McMahon’s spinoff group Alpha Entertainment has announced the eight franchises for the second incarnation of the XFL, which is scheduled to begin play in 2020.  Among the eight inaugural franchises: one that will call Globe Life Park in Arlington (TX) it’s home.  Read more here.

Former Home of Atlanta Braves, Olympics Begins New Chapter

The former home of the Atlanta Braves and the 1996 Summer Olympic Games begins its new chapter as the 24,000-seat home of Georgia State’s fledgling football program.  This Sun Belt Conference team that has only been around since 2010 will try to carve out its own legacy.  The first game is Thursday against Tennessee State.  Read more and view photo here.

FXFL Football Team Coming to MCU Park

PRESS RELEASE – First, the Brooklyn Cyclones brought professional sports back to the borough for the first time in over 40 years. Now MCU Park will once again play host to a historic moment in Brooklyn sports lore as the Brooklyn Bolts, a member of the newly formed FXFL, kick off their Inaugural Season this October.

College Football for Turner Field?

Georgia State University is proposing repurposing Turner Field into a 30,000-seat football stadium and building another baseball stadium that will include Hank Aaron’s wall as part of the structure.  Read more here.  Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves and Cobb County have substantially completed negotiations on five major agreements that are necessary before construction

Frisco’s Dr. Pepper Ballpark to Host Football Championship Game Pep Rally

The North Dakota State University Bison have moved their 1-AA (FCS) championship game pep rally from a smaller venue to Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco (TX), home of the Double-A Frisco Roughriders (Texas League).  The Bison will take on the Sam Houston State Bearkats again for the division championship at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco on Jan. 5.  Read more here.
