On the morning of Jan 23, 2018, it was discovered that the Field of Dreams Movie Site ball diamond in Dyersville (IA) was destroyed by truck tire damage. Many areas of the turf had been ripped up with potential damage to the refurbished irrigation system. The GoFundMe site that was launched to help fund repairs has already raised $18,176. The Double-A Portland Sea Dogs (Eastern League) held their annual Field of Dreams game on Sunday featuring players wearing replica 1926 Portland Eskimo uniforms and emerging from a cornfield. The family at Balletto Vineyards winery in Sonoma (CA) have built a regulation-size baseball field that is surrounded on three sides by 160-acres of vines. This was actually driven by a love of the game by employed field workers and not a desire to duplicate the Dyersville (IA) experience California-style.
