El Paso to End Ballpark Subsidy Early

New figures show the debt incurred for building Southwest University Park, home of the El Paso Chihuahuas (Triple-A, Pacific Coast League), will be covered by revenue generated by the stadium and hotel occupancy tax revenue alone after 2021, two years ahead of schedule.  Read more here.

El Paso to Consider Plan for $1.2 Million in Capital Projects for Ballpark

The El Paso (TX) City Council on Tuesday will consider approving the updated five-year plan for capital projects at Southwest University Park, which is owned by the city and leased by MountainStar — the owners of the El Paso Chihuahuas (Triple-A, Pacific Coast League).  Read more here.

El Paso to End Ballpark Subsidies Two Years Early

El Paso (TX) City officials are now predicting they should be able to stop dipping into the general fund to subsidize debt payments for Southwest University Park by 2021.  That is two years earlier than predicted.  Read more here.

Taylor Promoted to VP of MountainStar Sports Group

Mexican Winter League Games Coming to Southwest University Park

Spring 2015 Targeted for New Pedestrian Pathway to New El Paso Ballpark

El Paso Chihuahuas HeadA new pedestrian pathway expected to improve access to recently opened Southwest University Park was supposed to be completed by the end of spring, but the $6.5 million project has been delayed.  Martin Bartlett, spokesman for the City of El Paso, pointed to the summer of 2015 for completion of the project.  Read more watch news report here.

Mock Impressed by Footprint of New El Paso Ballpark

El Paso Chihuahuas HeadJoe Mock from BaseballParks.com had very positive words to say about Southwest University Park, the new home of the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas (Pacific Coast League), when he spoke with El Paso Inc. from the press box.  Mock seemed most impressed at how Populous managed to successfully jam a 9,000-seat baseball stadium into a little more than five acres.  Read more here.
