Decks Added to Edinburg Stadium

UTRGV Stadium, formerly known as Edinburg Stadium and then-home of the Edinburg Roadrunners (Independent Professional), is alive and well under the helm of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.  The stadium appears to be in good shape and now has decks that were recently installed for groups to cheer on the Vaqueros.  Read more and watch news report here.

Edinburg Stadium Ownership Tranfer Next Month

Edinburg Roadrunners LogoA deal to transfer ownership of Edinburg Stadium from the city to the University of Texas System for use by the UT-Pan American — and, starting in 2016, the UT-Rio Grande Valley — baseball team, is expected to be finalized next month.  The city spent about $225,000 per year since 2000 to operate and maintain the 4,000-seat stadium.  The ballpark is the former home of the indy pro Edinburg Roadrunners (United League).  Under the new UT regime, don’t expect pro ball to return to the ballpark.  Read more here.

Edinburg Rejects Signing New Lease with United League’s Roadrunners

Edinburg Roadrunners LogoThe Edinburg (TX) City Council on Tuesday rejected a new lease agreement with the indy pro Edinburg Roadrunners (United League Baseball), amid discussions with the University of Texas System about the future of Edinburg Baseball Stadium.  The ULB’s McAllen Thunder also played at the ballpark.  Read more here.
