Kirk Intrigued by Caribbean Division for Atlantic League

With the announcement last week by President Obama that could normalize relations between the U.S. and communist dictator-led Cuba, indy pro Atlantic League executive Peter Kirk couldn’t help but be intrigued by the idea of creating a Caribbean Division for the circuit that would feature teams in Cuba, Florida, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.  Read more here.

Apparently unbeknownst to the New York Yankees, the teams’ executive vice president and chief international officer Felix Lopez (who is also brother-in-law to managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner), was in the Dominican Republic on Monday for a press conference announcing a plan to build a new privately funded $50 million ballpark
