For reasons not reported publicly, the New York State League will no longer be operating the Continental Baseball League’s Desert Valley Mountain Lions nor the West Texas Road Hogs. The Mountain Lions website has been replaced with team’s former introductory site with the blue lion logo, and the Road Hogs logo is nowhere to be found. The Coastal Kingfish traveling team has reappeared as a member of the CBL’s four team lineup for 2010.
With the Alexandria Aces departing for the Texas Collegiate League, the Continental Baseball League has been left with only two teams with permanent homes — the returning Big Bend (Alpine, TX) Cowboys and the expansion Las Cruces Vaqueros owned by Beach City, Texas, Realtor Andrew Dunn. A possible entry for 2010 could be the Desert Valley Mountain Lions, which appear to be the second CBL franchise for Dunn, who registered www.dvlions.com on Valentine’s Day. Continue reading
