It’s the ‘Daytona Tortugas’

Daytona Tortugas Primary LogoDuring an unveiling event Thursday morning, it was announced that the Single-A Daytona Cubs (Florida State League) will now be known as the Daytona Tortugas.  Primary and secondary logos were introduced, along with uniform designs and a name-the-mascot contest.  Studio Simon handled the design work.  Read more here.

Daytona Cubs to Unveil New Identity Dec. 4

Daytona Cubs New IdentityA new affiliation with the Cincinnati Reds will bring forth a new identity for the Single-A Daytona Cubs (Florida State League).  On Thursday, December 4, at 10:30 a.m., Daytona Baseball will unveil new logos and uniform sketches.  A name-the-mascot contest will also be launched.  Studio Simon reportedly handled the design work.  Read more here.  View press release here.

Daytona Cubs Prepare to Debut Ballpark Renovations

It’s ‘Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark’

Daytona Cubs New IdentityPRESS RELEASE – The Daytona Cubs announced, Thursday, a five-year partnership with Radiology Associates Imaging that includes exclusive naming rights to Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The newly-renovated ballpark will now be known as “Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark,” effective immediately through 2018. D-Cubs Extend Lease at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, Ramp Up Renovations

Daytona Cubs New IdentityThe Daytona Beach (FL) city commissioners voted unanimously Friday to enter into a new 10-year lease with the Single-A Daytona Cubs (Florida State League) to keep the team at Jackie Robinson Ballpark until 2022.  As part of the deal, the Cubs will be allowed to charge for parking to help fund $1.25 million in improvements to the historic facility.  Read more hereRead press release here.

Ballpark Makeover Will Keep D-Cubs in Daytona for Next Decade

The Single-A Daytona Cubs (Florida State League) are close to signing a new lease deal that will keep the team at Jackie Robinson Ballpark for the next 10 years.  To bait the Cubs to stay put, the city has given conditional approval for $1.25 million in stadium upgrades.  The one sticking point causing delay in signing a final agreement is a tiff with the county over the Cubs’ desire to start charging for parking.  Read more here.

Umpire Ejects Intern for Playing ‘Three Blind Mice’
