Marshall University has completed the purchase of the Flint Group Pigments property in Huntington (WV) from the Huntington Municipal Development Authority. The land will be used to construct the Thundering Herd’s new baseball stadium, which is set to open in Huntington in March 2021. Read more here.

Marshall University Moves Forward with Ballpark Plan, Hires Architect
Marshall University took a huge step toward building a baseball stadium Friday when athletic director Mike Hamrick announced the school has hired an architect to design the long-awaited facility. On the Hunt for Land for Thundering Herd’s New Home
Marshall University’s baseball team has finished its 12th season of playing home games at Charleston’s (WV) Appalachian Power Park — 50 miles from the UM campus in Huntington. Others were played in Beckley and a series this past season was moved to the bare-bones diamond at the YMCA Kennedy Center, 6 miles northeast of the MU campus. Read more here.

Marlins Park to Host College Football Bowl Game
College football will return to the former site of the Orange Bowl in December 2014, as the inaugural Miami Beach Bowl will be played at Marlins Park, home of the Miami Marlins. The game will feature a team from the American Athletic Conference (formerly the Big East) and Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference or Sun Belt Conference. Read more here.
