The official groundbreaking for the new ballpark in Lexington County (SC) for the summer collegiate Columbia (now “Lexington County”) Blowfish (Coastal Plain League) is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 12pm at 474 Ballpark Road in Lexington. One More Season at Capital City Stadium for Blowfish? (UPDATED)
The Columbia (SC) City Council on Tuesday night is scheduled to give a second reading approval to an agreement that would bring the summer collegiate Columbia Blowfish (Coastal Plain League) back to Capital City Stadium for the 2014 season. No Ballpark for Blowfish in Lexington
The Lexington County (SC) Recreation and Aging Commission had proposed a $23 million facilities bond that reportedly included $3 million for a new ballpark to attract the summer collegiate Columbia Blowfish (Coastal Plain League), but the county council on Tuesday approved the bond without the baseball stadium plan. Columbia’s Bull Street Development Could Include Ballpark

Home Run King Hank Aaron Visits Capital City Stadium
Baseball legend Hank Aaron, 79, was in Columbia (SC) Wednesday night to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Capitol City Stadium, home of the summer collegiate Columbia Blowfish (Coastal Plain League). Blowfish Exploring Move to Lexington County
Now that the sale of Capital City Stadium to a Walmart developer has been authorized, the summer collegiate Columbia Blowfish (Coastal Plain League) must find a new home. The team is now in early talks with the mayors of Cayce and Lexington about building a new multi-use facility. Columbia City Council Delays Vote on Ballpark Sale
The Columbia (SC) City Council has set aside a vote on the $1 million sale of Capital City Stadium, home of the summer collegiate Columbia Blowfish (Coastal Plain League), because of a watershed issue that will require a one to three month long study to resolve.
