Sacramento a MLB Town?

This is a big stretch, but Sacramento (CA) Mayor Kevin Johnson has asked his Think Big Sacramento task force to look into marketing the city as a potential MLB market.  We love big thinkers and “vision,” but the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats (Pacific Coast League) are the perfect fit for the capital city.  The immediate population of Sacramento is 466,488.  Read more here.

Name the Team Contest Submission Deadline Today

Fans in San Rafael (CA) have until 5:00 p.m. today to submit names for the new indy pro North American League franchise coming to town.  Submissions can be e-mailed to sports@marinij.com.  You will need to provide your name, address, and e-mail address.  Fans will then have a chance to vote on five finalist selected by the team via the Marin Independent Journal’s Facebook pageRead more here.

Opposition to San Rafael Ballpark Proposal Continues, Despite Scaled-Down Expansion

NAL’s Centerfield Partners Targeting Dublin (CA)

San Rafael (CA) Delays Decision Over NAL Team

San Rafael (CA) Baseball Decision Delayed

The San Rafael (CA) Park & Recreation Commission, which heard a proposal last Thursday to bring a new North American League franchise to Albert Park, will delay any recommendation to the city council until next month, while city employees evaluate legal issues raised by a small group of neighborhood opponents.  Read more here.
