Waiting for Study in Blaine, Northwoods League Still on Deck

As we have previously posted, the National Sports Center in Blaine (MN) is studying building 24 baseball and softball fields on the mega sports campus, which could include a new stadium for a summer collegiate Northwoods League franchise.  The study being done by Ripken Design and consultant Conventions, Sports & Leisure International should be completed in the next 45-60 days.  Read more here.

TwinsFest Moved to National Sports Center

The Minnesota Twins’ annual TwinsFest is being moved to the National Sports Center in Blaine (MN), after it was announced that the Metrodome would remain closed for roof repairs until the end of March.  The event will take place at the NSC’s Sports Hall and Schwan Conference Center from January 28-30.  Read more here.

Blaine, National Sports Center Targeted for NWL Relocation

The owner of a team in the summer collegiate Northwoods League, who shall remain nameless, is interested in relocating an existing franchise to Blaine, MN and the National Sports Center.  There is currently no adequate baseball venue at the NSC.  The NSC is home to the Schwan’s Super Rink, a mega hocky complex with eight sheets of ice.  The NSC also hosts the Schwan’s USA Cup, one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the world.  Read more here.
